• You Can Learn To Love LinkedIn Power Hour

My 1-1 online You Can Learn to Love LinkedIn Power Hour will help you polish your profile, build your network and join a global conversation.

“I worked with Philippa on one of her LinkedIn one-2-one sessions. I was completely new to the platform and had no real idea how it worked, what kind of things I should be posting and how to engage and connect with people there.

The session was great, we spent an hour focussing on what my reasons for joining the platform were, what I hoped to get out of it and most importantly who I was looking to connect with. Rather than thinking about how to make it about myself, she advised the best approach is to think about who the people are that you are looking to connect with and what you can offer them. How are you offering a solution to their problems? This was really helpful and new way of thinking about things.

She also went into a detailed breakdown of how all the different areas of the platform worked and how to use them. After the session she sent really useful follow up notes and also took the time to check out my account and how I was using it.

I can definitely recommend her session! I feel now that I have a strong sense of how to move forward and of course I’m only just beginning, but it doesn’t feel overwhelming or unclear any more! Philippa was very friendly and approachable and really listened to and focussed on my long term goals and was able to help me tailor a strategy to exactly what i needed. Thanks so much!”

Sophie Flack, Screenwriter | Playwright | Theatre Director

“Thankyou so much for the advice you have given me.

It has really helped and given me a broader understanding of how the corporate world may work.

Philippa provided an engaging and thought-provoking session around the professional use of LinkedIn.

The session gave relevant insight into the business and corporate environment.

    Would highly recommend the training.”

Sophie Methuen-Turner, Actor | Agent, The Working Actor Agency

“An extremely helpful session. I found your direction insightful, particularly notes on gearing my profile towards one goal / industry / focus.

I really appreciated your calm and authoritative manner, and the mention of the fence post as it was something I didn’t know.

Writing the profile for the reader and not myself was a take I hadn’t considered and useful to keep in mind.

I didn’t know the recommendations tab existed before and now I have a list of contacts to ask to recommend me.

You also brought to my attention that the LinkedIn algorithm work is the same as Meta in terms of regular posting, and videos increasing my reach.

My mind works better with a given structure so it’s useful to be given clear instructions and aims by a professional who knows what they’re doing.

I appreciated the advice of going online to interact with other accounts before posting.

I now have a clear set of aims to work towards and the tools to do so.”

Eva Marie Wilshere, Script Writer | Editor | Director | Video Editor

“Having someone go through LinkedIn ins and outs in a way that makes it relevant to you is time well spent.

Philippa was able to cut through the noise and guide me clearly through the bits that were applicable to my business.

I now have action steps to take and feel confident that I can start using LinkedIn as an effective marketing tool and lead generator for my business.”

  • Online Acting Workshop

I delivered my workshop on ‘Online Acting’ to a Zoom audience of actor members of Brighton and the South East Equity union

‘A huge thank you to Philippa Hammond for today’s brilliant workshop!

In addition to the explanations, Philippa demonstrated the techniques required for online acting and we were all given an opportunity to practise them ourselves.

It was hugely beneficial to our members, as online acting is clearly going to be the way forward in these uncertain times.’

Former Brighton and Sussex Equity General Branch Public Relations Officer

  • Acting From The Script Workshop

Responses to our four-session acting skills programme

We ran our Acting From A Script acting class over four Mondays in February and November 2025, as part of the New Venture Theatre Brighton’s outreach programme. We’ve been delivering this course for the last four years.

Each week, thirty or so participants gathered for two hours’ dive into script work.

    Participant responses

“Tonight I have had so much fun being a Director and Actor – totally smashed it and so much positive energy and feedback – absolutely loved it.” Steven Valentine

“Great to perform a monologue on Monday evening, written by Philippa Hammond, really had fun with it and thoroughly enjoyed going from polite to VERY angry with a huge dollop of sarcasm in the middle. I’d like to perform more with this range.” Tristan Wolfe

“Fantastic evening at the New Venture Theatre participating in their evening class.” Sophie Methuen Turner

“it’s not every night that you can masquerade as an estate agent that turns into a ghost and then into a Dalek! Working from a script ‘Haunted’, together with Ashley and Phil, we embellished it a little! Just wanted to say thanks to Philippa Hammond and Thomas Everchild for a brilliant acting class tonight at New Venture Theatre Brighton. It was wonderfully freeing and friendly and so much fun. I really recommend it to anyone, experienced or new to acting.” Alexxa Flexxa

  • Reading Your Work to an Audience Workshop

I recently delivered my new one hour workshop on reading aloud to an audience for Hove Writers. Novelists, poets, dramatists, non-fiction writers all meeting together for exercises, challenges, hearing and discussing each other’s work.

Being able to read well at literary events, book launches, round tables etc can be so valuable for boosting an author’s reputation.

My workshop was designed to give quick and actionable tips to help any writer feel, look and sound their best to any audience.

It’s now available to groups and 1-1 in person and online.

    What they’re saying:

“Your workshop about speaking well at Hove Library was so good, it was what we all needed … everyone was happy, they learned and enjoyed the practice … that paragraph about what the audience wants is like a bible to always have in mind. I also like to receive the tongue twisters and it was fun to try it … it will be lovely if you can come again and give us some text to practice.” Julia Martínez

“Very warm, knowledgeable, great delivery … practical advice … thank you very much” Sarah Agnew

“I enjoyed it very much – very useful … she speaks very well … knows her subject well … please could you arrange more of this … very helpful and increased my knowledge” Marjan

  • Reading Your Work To An Audience Workshop

A one hour online 1-1 personal development Power Hour or group workshop

With trainer and actor, Philippa Hammond

    Who benefits?

My Talking Speaking Power Hours benefit:

    Performers, including actors and presenters
Writers of fiction, non fiction, poetry and prose who’d like to polish their personal and professional impact reading their work to an audience

    Why learn to read well?

Reading your work aloud to an audience in bookshops, writers’ groups, literary festivals etc – it’s a great way to get yourself and your work known to the world.

But so often things can get in the way!

    Mindsets can sabotage confidence

    Nerves can overwhelm

And lack of breathing and vocal control can make us speed up, speak too quietly and be harder to follow.

    This session will help you

Beat nerves and build confidence so you can enjoy the experience

Learn some actors’ and audiobook readers’ techniques for looking and sounding your best

Captivate and keep your audience’s attention and interest.

Please bring a short piece of your writing (a couple of minutes or so) and something you’re happy to scribble in (eg a magazine or news article) for practice exercises.

    No other prep required.

  • The Plain English Campaign Inside Write Award

Fiona Bruce presented the award for my article “Presentation Skills: Handling Nerves.”

“… an excellent example of plain English … The clear layout, logical flow and use of white space make this publication very easy to read. The question and answer format is used very effectively to get across important information. Personal references, the active voice, short sentences and the lack of jargon all add together to inform the reader … “
